About This Project
The Ketners wanted their Simpsonville primary bathroom brought up to modern standards without changing the room's overall feel. We rebuilt the wet area as a tiled walk-in shower with full Wedi or Schluter waterproofing behind the tile, color-matched silicone at every change of plane, two metal corner shelves, and a wall-mounted shower head with a handheld attachment. A freestanding soaking tub anchors the room. The vanity area got a new 60-inch double vanity with a quartz top, undermount sinks, a comfort-height toilet, two framed mirrors, and a five-bulb light bar. The floor is porcelain tile run wall to wall, and the ceiling got a new light/fan combo, fresh paint, and skim-coat repairs to fix the previous popcorn texture. A clean, durable primary bath that will hold up for years.
Ketner Family's Goals
Bring the primary bath into the current era — proper waterproofed tile shower, freestanding tub, more counter space, better lighting — without changing the room's footprint.

Frequently Asked Questions
What waterproofing system was used in the shower?
A complete Wedi or Schluter sheet-membrane system goes on the walls and floor before tile is set, with color-matched silicone (not grout) at every change of plane so movement doesn't crack the seal.
Was the bathroom layout changed?
The footprint stayed the same — we focused on rebuilding every wet surface, upgrading fixtures, and improving lighting and ventilation rather than moving walls.
What does a master bathroom remodel like this typically cost in Simpsonville or Greenville County?
A full primary bath remodel with a tile shower, freestanding tub, double vanity, and new flooring in the Simpsonville and greater Greenville County area typically ranges from $18,000 to $35,000 depending on tile selection, fixtures, and scope.
